The Béla Bartók Complete Critical Edition is a joint project of G. Henle Publishers, Munich, and Editio Musica Budapest. The volume at hand was edited by Klára Móricz. Die äußerst lesenswerte Einleitung erläutert die Entstehungsgeschichte dieses Werkes, das Bartók in seinen letzten Lebensjahren unter besonderen Lebensumständen geschaffen hat. Der Kritische Bericht dokumentiert den Kompositionsprozess in detaillierter Weise und gibt u. a. das umfangreiche Skizzenmaterial in Transkriptionen wieder.
