John B. Manbeck is author/editor of seven books on Brooklyn and is a contributor to "The Encyclopedia of New York City, 2nd Edition" and "The Encyclopedia of New York State." For eight years he served as the official Brooklyn Borough Historian. He has appeared on television and radio programs and was interviewed for "The Brooklyn Bridge" DVD produced by The History Channel. His weekly newspaper column, "Historically Speaking," ran in "The Brooklyn Daily Eagle" for eight years. Professor Manbeck taught English at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn for 32 years.
