"Ich bin ein Berliner!" - Ob Gregory Porter das genannte Kennedy-Zitat wirklich bei seinem umjubelten Berlin-Konzert benutzt hat, ist nicht überliefert. Er hätte aber guten Grund dafür gehabt. Denn nicht nur ist er ebenso regelmäßiger wie gern gesehener Gast in der Hauptstadt, man stellt ihm dort auch regelmäßig die renommierte Konzerthalle der Größten der Musikwelt von Karajan bis Knef zur Verfügung: die Philharmonie. Manchmal bringt er so viel Zeit mit, dass er sie an drei Abenden hintereinander ausverkauft. Tausende Berliner sorgen dann für Standing Ovations. So auch am 18. Mai 2016 - Gregory Porter präsentiert hier mit seiner seit Jahren bestens eingespielten Band ein Programm mit Stücken, die einen Querschnitt aus seinem gesamten bisherigen Schaffen bieten. Durch minimalen Bühnenaufbau und zurückhaltende Beleuchtung wurde dabei eine intime Atmosphäre geschaffen, die den Fokus unmittelbar auf die Musik richtet. Im architektonisch berühmten Saal auf allen Seiten vom hingerissen lauschenden Publikum umgeben, brachte Porter an diesem Abend noch die feinsten Nuancierungen seiner Songs zum Vorschein. Der Augen- und Ohrenschmaus wird in drei alternativen Formaten veröffentlicht: als Blu-ray, DVD und DVD + CD.
