Links are made between films, and students are encouraged to take a retrospective look through recurrent motifs, such as the Blackpool holiday in "Sing as We Go" (1934), "A Taste of Honey" (1961), and "Bhaji on the Beach" (1933). Each section ends with detailed suggestions for essays, further research and practical work.
