'Hello, my name is Chandra,' says the little elephant. 'I have an Indian name, because I’m an Indian elephant,' it trumpets proudly. On May 13, 2002 an elephant baby was born in the Zurich Zoo. She was given the name Chandra, which means 'Moon' or 'The Shining one' in Hindu. This event inspired the renowned Swiss wine author Chandra Kurt to write a story. She herself was born in Sri Lanka as the daughter of an elephant researcher. An adorably illustrated children’s book by Matthias Gnehm.
