Der Band Aziz+Cucher. Some People stellt vier jüngst in Auftrag gegebene Videoinstallationen des amerikanisch-venezuelanischen Künstlerteams Anthony Aziz (*1961) und Sammy Cucher (*1958) vor, welche die komplexen Beziehungen der beiden Künstler zum politischen Konflikt im Nahen Osten widerspiegeln. Die Publikation dokumentiert die Ausstellung, ein Essay von Lisa D. Freiman stellt die Arbeiten in den Kontext ihrer bisherigen Werke und setzt sie in Bezug zu bedeutenden Entwicklungen in den Neuen Medien. Tami Katz-Freiman, als in Israel lebende freie Kuratorin mit dem Nahostkonflikt eng vertraut, untersucht die Arbeit von Aziz+Cucher unter dem Aspekt der politischen Kunst. Richard Meyer hingegen konzentriert sich in seinem Interview mit den Künstlern auf das Thema der homosexuellen Kunst und Kultur in San Francisco.

Aziz + Cucher: Some People presents four newly commissioned video installations by the collaborative team of Anthony Aziz (*1961) and Sammy Cucher (*1958) that reflect the artists’ complex relationship with the political conflict in the Middle East. The publication documents the exhibition, and an essay by Lisa D. Freiman places the works in the context of the artists’ oeuvre and relates them to major developments in new media. Tami Katz-Freiman, an independent curator working in Israel who is intimately familiar with the conflict in the Middle East, explores their work from the angle of political art. In a question-and-answer session with the artists, Richard Meyer, on the other hand, focuses on queer art and cultural life in San Francisco in the late eighties and early nineties
