This volume accompanies the 2011 edition of the Young Artists Biennale of Monza, a project tied to the historic National Exhibit of the City of Monza, established in 1951 with a revival in the 1980 s, and a complete reformulation in 2005. The festival is distinguished by its welcoming of young critics and artists of recent generations. The pool of five professionals from the world of art who selected the thirty invited artists is made up of: Marco Bazzini, director of the Luigi Pecci Contemporary Art Centre in Prato; Luca Cerizza, critic and curator who splits his time between Milan and Berlin; Yunkyoung Kim, director of the Mongin Art Center in Seoul; Franziska Nori, director of the Strozzina Contemporary Art Centre in Florence; Stefano Questioli, artistic consultant at the Italian Institute of Culture in Chicago.
Thirty invited artists, with their work, give a voice to a multitude of languages, from painting to installations, from sculpture to video, to multimedia art: Jungju An, Francesco Arena, Lorenzo Banci, Chiara Camoni, Ludovica Carbotta, Alice Cattaneo, Kichang Choi, Stefano Cossu, Michael Fliri, Zoe Gruni, Alessandro Imbriaco, Emanuele Kabu, Yunho Kim, Kyunghwan Kwon, Marco Lampis, Hoin Lee, Federico Maddalozzo, Domenico Mangano, Andrea Mastrovito, Domingo Milella, Sungsic Moon, Margherita Moscardini, Nicola Pecoraro, Luana Perilli, Antonio Puleo, Moira Ricci, Marinella Senatore, Petar Stanovic, Sten & Lex and Nicola Toffolini.
