Andreas Seltzers Endoskopien führen in die Kleinwelt des Hausrats, der Kleidung und all der Dinge, mit denen wir uns heimisch fühlen. Der Nahbereich, den Seltzer mit einem Endoskop und dem angeschlossenen Lichtprojektor auskundschaftet, das sind die Dinge seiner nächsten Umgebung: ein Portomonnaie, der Nähkasten seiner Mutter, die Jackentasche seiner Freundin, eine Spielzeugtüte…
Die Suche nach neuen Sichtweisen aufs Altbekannte, der spielerische Gestus und die Freude am Entdecken gehören zu den Grundelementen seiner Arbeit. Und es war ein glücklicher Umstand, daß Andreas Seltzer, bei einem Gang über den Flohmarkt, das fast gleichgroße Verhältnis zwischen den runden, mittig gesetzten Ausstanzungen alter Schallplattenhüllen und jenen kreiszentrierten Endoskopien auffiel, sowie die Verwandtschaft und die Kombinationsmöglichkeit dieser Elemente häuslicher Intimität erkannte. The search for new perspectives on the familiar, the playful gesture, and the joy of discovery are key elements of his work. Thus, it was a lucky coincidence that Andreas Seltzer, while walking across a flea market, noticed the almost equal ratio between the round, centrally placed cut-outs of traditional record dust sleeves and his circular-centered endoscopic photographs and that he recognized the relationship and possible combinations of these respective items of domestic intimacy.
