Titus Burckhardt (1908-1984) was a leading member of the "Perennialist" or "Traditionalist" school of comparative religious thought associated with René Guénon, Ananda Coomaraswamy and Frithjof Schuon; he was, also, an acknowledged expert on the sacred art of the traditional worlds of both the East and West.

Titus Burckhardt (1908-1984) was a leading member of the "Perennialist" or "Traditionalist" school of comparative religious thought associated with René Guénon, Ananda Coomaraswamy and Frithjof Schuon; he was, also, an acknowledged expert on the sacred art of the traditional worlds of both the East and West.
Titus Burckhardt, a German Swiss, was born in Florence in 1908. Some of his most notable works include Alchemy, Sacred Art in East and West and Chartres and the Birth of the Cathedral. Burckhardt's writings spanned a period of some 40 years and have been continuously available since his death in 1984. Michael Oren Fitzgerald has written and edited many publications on spirituality.
