The second volume featured more than 3,000 artists and 4,000 signature examples. This third volume contains some 4,070 artists with 4,250 signature examples. In addition to the standard signature entries, the book features sections for monograms and initials, common surname signatures, alternative surname signatures, symbols, Cyrillic Signatures, and illegible signatures. Less than five percent of the entries in this volume are listed in the first two volumes—and these are included to provide additional information about the artists. John Castagno is a multimedia artist and sculptor. He has been an art researcher for the past 40 years and also lectures on art and on art as an investment. Mr. Castagno's recent books include Abstract Artists: Signatures and Monograms, An International Directory (2007), European Artists III: Signatures and Monograms, From 1800 (2008), and African, Asian and Middle Eastern Artists: Signatures and Monograms From 1800 (2008).
