A rhyming and rhythmic retelling of the first Christmas story for infants
This is the baby, perfect and new,
God with a heartbeat from heaven for you.

Toddlers and young children will delight in this beautiful picture book with rhyming and rhythmic text about the story of the first Christmas. The birth of Jesus is told in a refreshing and captivating rhyme for children, which will be a joy to share and read out loud. Restless kids will swiftly join in the story as the narrative builds and repeats and be captivated by the charming illustrations.

In this cleverly crafted text, the animals make room in their stable for two tired travellers, a newborn baby is laid in a manger of hay, shepherds visit and a bright star sparkles, guiding wise men from afar.

Ruth Hearson complements her very engaging story with heart-warming illustrations full of captivating details that young children will adore. The baby lying in the hay radiates joy, and the animals and visitors are full of character.

Perfect for sharing at bedtime or with a group of young children aged 2+ years over the Christmas season.

Ruth often describes her job as "drawing baby toes." Ruth graduated from Birmingham City University in 1996 with a First-Class degree in Visual Communication: Illustration and had such a lovely time she stayed on to do a Master’s degree. In 2018, Ruth was nominated for theKate Greenaway Medal for Illustration. Actively involved with her church, Ruth helps to present a monthly service called "Everybody Sunday," which creatively presents a biblical theme to an all-age congregation. You’ll find Ruth drawing and drinking tea at home in North Staffordshire, where she lives with her husband, two noisy teenage children and a sleepy cat called Orlando.
