Get ready to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, commemorating the end of Ramadan, in this heartfelt picture book.

The first sliver of a new moon hung low and bright …
which brought with it the festival of Eid al-Fitr.

Join Hafsa and her family as they prepare to spend Eid with their loved ones, decorating the house and cooking a feast. But, when Hafsa’s dad starts packing up her favourite snack, the halwa, to share with the neighbours, Hafsa's community rallies together to save the day. With words from award-winning author Hiba Noor Khan and warm, charming art from talented newcomer, SInggih Cahyo Jadmiko, this is the perfect gift to celebrate Eid.

Hiba Noor Khan is a double-Masters holder who has worked in refugee advocacy for The Children’s Society, as a physics teacher and as a TV presenter. She is the author of six books for children including Inspiring Inventors, How to Spaghettify Your Dog and The Little War Cat. Her middle grade historical fiction novel Safiyyah's War was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal and the Branford Boase Award, and won the 2024 Jhalak Prize and Indie Book Award. In 2019, she was commissioned to write Malala as part of the Extraordinary Lives Series. She has also written for the Independent, Huffington Post and Amaliah on subjects ranging from Isis to turmeric lattes. Singgih Cahyo Jadmiko is an Indonesia-based illustrator. He graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 2021 with a major in Craft and Ceramic Design. With a passion for painting and illustration, A Golden Eid is his first picture book for Walker.
