Martin Waddell is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest living writers of books for children. His work includes Farmer Duck and Owl Babies, and in 2004 he won the prestigious Hans Christian Andersen Award. He lives in Northern Ireland. Barbara Firth illustrated the award-winning Big and Little Bear series and won the Emil/Kurt Maschler Award in 1989 for The Park in the Dark by Martin Waddell. She lives in Harrow.
