This work explores the overarching and unique backgrounds of children in contact with gangs and the role personal and communal connections play in this context.

Geboren und aufgewachsen in Berlin studierte Saskia Messow zunächst Soziale Arbeit, was sie 2018 nach Südafrika brachte. In Folge Ihres Masters in Childhood Studies & Children's Rights setzte sie sich besonders mit Kinderrechten und Postkolonialismus im südlichen Afrika auseinander, was zu ihrem Forschungsschwerpunkt wurde.
