Paris, 1640, the gifted and charismatic poet Cyrano de Bergerac finds himself deeply in love with the beautiful and intellectual Roxane. Considering himself too ugly for Roxane’s affections, he helps the dashing Christian to capture her heart through poetic letters, but can Cyrano find the courage to reveal his true feelings? Classics Illustrated tells this wonderful tale in colourful comic strip form, offering an excellent introduction for younger readers. This edition also includes theme discussions and study questions, which can be used both in the classroom and at home to further engage the reader in the story.
Edmond Rostand (1 April 1868- 2 December 1918) was a French poet and playwright. He is associated with neo-romanticism and his plays contrasted the naturalistic theatre that was popular in the late 19th century. Alex A. Blum was an illustrator best known for his tremendous contributions to the Classics Illustrated series. He illustrated 25 titles within that series, as well as the debut title to the Classics Illustrated Junior series - "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". John Parker (1917-2004) was an American artist who started illustrating magazines and painted covers in the 1940s. He began to paint covers for Classics Illustrated Comics in 1956 and eventually taught illustration at the Ivy School of Professional Art.
