Clement Clarke Moore (1779-1863) was a New York professor of divinity and literature best remembered today for his poem A Visit From St Nicholas, which became known as Twas the Night Before Christmas. His dreamy, peaceful artwork of The Night Before Christmas conveys all the charm and wonder of the much-loved poem.
