An intimate parent-child relationship story which encourages young readers to discover their own potential and take pride in their talents.
Lola is a young Spanish girl in awe of her glamorous older sister. However, she discovers her own talent and duende, or spirit, through secret fandango lessons from her father. The text is infused with the rhythms, movements and sounds of the dance and the humanity of Lola's family is beautifully portrayed by Micha Archer's collage-paintings.

Anna Witte was born in Germany and grew up in Spain before moving to America where she has lived for the last eighteen years. She has also written and illustrated The Parrot Tico Tango for Barefoot Books. Micha Archer has always loved the way words and pictures go together. Her illustrations are created using gouache, watercolour, pen and ink, and collage. She is influenced by her travels in West Africa, Mexico and Central America and the folk arts and crafts she saw there. Mischa lives in Massachusetts, USA with her family. She has also illustrated The Wise Fool for Barefoot Books. Brian Amador, an accomplished guitarist, is the founder and musical director of Sol y Canto, a Latin sextet based in Boston who play their unique, joyful and inspiring music across America. He lives in Boston, USA with his wife Rosi, company director and lead vocalist of the group, and their two children.
