The aim of this text, accompanied by the teacher's handbook, is to provide a complete rationale, photocopiable reading passages and a simple procedure for using miscue analysis - categorizing the different types of errors made by pupils reading aloud, to identify the reading strategies they are using - as a technique in the diagnostic assessment and teaching of reading. The text uses 24 photocopiable reading passages grouped by genre/type of reading and graded for difficulty. They are aimed at primary school reading, but can also be used with less-able readers in secondary schools and provide a diagnostic guide to individual strengths and weaknesses in reading.
