Scotland’s Stone of Destiny discusses the much-disputed issue of authenticity, and finally places it in a wider context with reference to the Stone’s significance to the creation of the Scottish parliament and the destiny of the Scots.

DR NICK AITCHISON took his degree (in Archaeology and Scottish History) at the University of Glasgow, where he also gained his PhD. His research interests focus on kingship and royal and religious centres in early medieval Scotland. His previous publications include Forteviot: a Pictish and Scottish Royal Centre and the critically-acclaimed Macbeth: Man and Myth. Dr Aitchison is currently conducting research on early medieval Scone, its environs and associated royal centres.
