Professor Quamrul Hasan is a Professor at the Institute for International Initiatives, the University of Osaka, Japan. Previously, he was a Professor at the Universiti Utara Malaysia, Malaysia, and the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. Before, he worked at Procter & Gamble Company as an R&D Scientist and Manager, respectively. Professor Hasan has a PhD in Biotechnology from Kyoto University, Japan. He has nearly 100 publications, including several book chapters in Halal Science, as well as patents. Professor Hasan founded Japan Halal Research Institute for Product and Service (JAHARI) in 2014 in Japan. Additionally, he is one of the founding directors of the Japan Society for Halal Science and Technology (JAHAS), a position he has held since 2018, currently serving as Vice-Chairman. Professor Hasan has been managing the International Certificate Program on Halal Science, Technology, and Innovation at the University of Osaka since 2020, and leading the University of Osaka ASEAN Campus SDGs Co-creation Forum for Halal Innovation since 2021. Dr Jawad Alzeer is a medicinal chemist and researcher known for bridging groundbreaking work in organic chemistry with innovative therapeutic frameworks. He earned his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. His career spans significant contributions to medicinal chemistry (including antimalarial drug development at Roche) and advanced research in gene therapy and cancer treatment at the Universities of Michigan and Zurich. Dr Alzeer’s profound understanding of entropy and potential energy led him to establish the transformative healthcare models: Lifestylopathy and Halalopathy. He remains dedicated to mentoring future professionals as an Adjunct Professor at Palestine Polytechnic University (PPU), focusing his current research on integrating Halal pharmaceuticals into personalized medicine and shaping the future of ethical, sustainable healthcare solutions. Dr Fairuzeta Ja’afar is an Assistant Professor in Physical Chemistry at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), teaching Chemical Thermodynamics and Quantum Chemistry. She received the Teaching Excellence Award in Sciences in 2020. As the Director of Studies under the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (Education), she oversees all academic matters, from undergraduate to postgraduate levels, and leads curriculum reviews, including initiatives addressing Generative AI. She previously served as Deputy Director of Research and chaired UBD’s first TEDx event. Her research focuses on natural products and biomass utilization, and teaches the Biodiversity and Bioresource section in the Osaka University International Certificate Programme: Halal Science, Technology and Innovation. Dr Fairuzeta earned her PhD in Chemistry from Imperial College London in 2015, after completing an MRes in Bioimaging Sciences and a BSc in Chemistry. Professor Eiichi Tamiya is currently a Professor at the Institute of Industrial Chemistry, the University of Osaka. After earning PhD degree in Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he became an associate professor at the University of Tokyo and a full professor at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology in 1992. In 2007, he moved to the University of Osaka as a full professor at the Department of Applied Physics. Professor Tamiya’s specialties include analytical science and nanobiotechnology. He has co-authored over 300 original journal articles, over 200 reviews, book chapters and books, and over 100 patents. Professor Tamiya is one of the founding Directors of Japan Society for Halal Science and Technology (JAHAS) since 2018. He served as its Chairman from July 2022 to June 2025. Professor Tamiya has been lecturing in the International Certificate Program on Halal Science, Technology and Innovation at the University of Osaka since 2020.
