When I was a teen I was easily distracted and could not concentrate at school. I did not know why but constantly I received bad feedback that in some way it impacted me. I was a good youth counselor and most of my thoughts was on how I can make my children in the youth movement better. Because of my low grades I started to believe that I was not intelligent at least for the academic area. I suffered to complete my high school and I received through my youth movement a scholarship to go to study to another country for learning youth leadership skills, that gave some sense of meaning to me at that time. Once I complete my studies I came back to be the leader of 400 children and the youth counselors. This was my strength at that time, continue doubting if I really was intelligent in the rational and analytical area. It took me time to recognize that regardless my past at school I could be successful in my professional life. Once I started to believe on myself I started to like and respect respect myself. I was very hyper and could be handling parallel situations . After studying my 2 B.A's in education and sociology my confidence start growing , after that I compensated my low self-confidence with 3 masters and a doctorate in clinical psychology. Now I recognize that mostly I had AD HD that was not treated at that time. After explaining this process in my life ,I totally believe that once we can like ourselves and be our best friend , we will be able to live more in the present with ourselves and s with significant people
This book helps people to come back to themselves ,recognizing how external situations demands on us and what others try to impose on us. The healthy boundaries can come if you're your judge number one as an adult . The book gives some examples and exercises that could help to become our best friend .
