„Some Words Sound Louder than Others: On Machines, Land¬capes and Other Imaginaries“ collects a series of narrative threads inspired by two key science fiction novels: ‘The Machine Stops‘ (1909) by E. M. Forster and ‘The Time Machine‘ (1895) by H. G. Wells.
The selection of books and their texts served as the point of departure for a collaborative project between the Class for Spa¬tial Design and Exhibition Design at the Berlin University of the Arts, Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts in Kyoto, the New Design University in St. Pölten and the Münster School of Design.
Students from different disciplines and backgrounds find their own narratives in the gaps and empty spaces between the two stories, in their entanglements, overlaps and predictions of the future.
From different perspectives, the works reflect the structures and complexities of our contemporary society.
