BATTLING WITH THE SPIRIT OF UN-CONFESSED SIN

There is a gap between you and God when you refuse to confess your sin. Confession of sin is important before God, so that you can be heard. The word to confess implies agreeing with God about how bad our sin is. Repentance, or turning away from sin, is part of this confession. If you refuse to confess your sin, it is called un-confessed sin and is a blockage to prayer.

Those who persist in sin need to re-examine their true relationship with God. Un-confessed sin leads: to broken fellowship with God and lack of growth. Those who know God do not continue a lifestyle of unrepentant sin. A desire for holiness is a hallmark of those who know God. It is horrible to live with hidden and confessed sin. If we keep silent and not confess our sin it sets up a chain of negative events. No wonder King David said, For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah”. Psalm 32:4. This is when he did not confess after he killed Uriah and took Beersheba, as wife. Conviction leads to confession.

The bible says in Proverb 28:13; He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Un-confessed sin is a load and burden in the heart. You are not relieved until you confess your sin before the Lord. Every sin is naked before him and clearer unto him than any confession we make. To defer confession can’t erase it. No sin is diminished by deferring the confession of it.

Un-confessed sin corrodes the heart. Your heart is dirty and has inner unrest. One who denies himself confession of sin never has peace. He has tortured soul, wears himself out and is old before his time. A corroded mind leads us to other sin. Un-confessed sin is probably the most common prayer killer. The book of Psalm 66:18 says; If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Wickedness is synonymous to un-confessed sin. God is perfect and doesn’t have anything to do with sin. If we tolerate sin in our lives, it pushes God away from us. As a result, our prayer becomes powerless and useless.

Our God is a forgiven God. When we confess our sin, he forgives us and it is gone. The slate is clean and we are no longer held accountable. The book of Jeremiah 31:34 says No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Our God is good. He forgives and forgets our sins of the past. Our relationship with God is restored and our prayers regain power. The Lord is there for us, but sin no more!

Un-confessed sin is disastrous, wreckful and deadly, it’s like a virus. If ignored and un-attend for too long, it will get worse, as prayers are ignored, and when you pray it is anathema to ears of God. You must not allow the virus of un-confessed sin linger in your heart and mind to avoid prayer blockage. Heaven would have closed against David, but for prophet Nathan who made David realized his sins were known by God.

Check yourself and guide against un-confessed sin. When we confess our sins it not only brings healing to our souls but restoration to those whom you offend and sinned against. Confessed sin brings joy and gladness; and the bones broken rejoice. Fractured relationships are healed and mended. God offer total pardon for every sin we commit if we confess it to him. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. The word to confess implies agreeing with God about how bad our sin is. Repentance or turning away from it is part of this confession.

Un-confessed sin is dangerous for our existence. Eternal punishment awaits those who refuse to repent of their sin and accept Jesus sacrifice because it leads to spiritual loneliness. Many times we accuse God of leaving us when, in truth, we have left him. When we stubbornly refuse to repent we will be disciplined by our loving Father. God longs for restored fellowship even more than we do. We must pull back by confessing and repenting.

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.” When you see this, your heart will rejoice and you will flourish like grass; the hand of the LORD will be made known to his servants, but his fury will be shown to his foes.” Isaiah 66:13-14.

Those who know God do not continue a lifestyle of unrepentant sin. A desire of holiness is a hallmark of those who know God. To know God is to love him. To love him is to desire to please him. A true child of God wants to confess it, and restore fellowship with God. As children of God, choose not to remain in sin, else, you choose the consequences that go with that choice. The result is; broken fellowship and lack of growth in the spirit.
