'It's Time to Act: Up' is a call to the Christian disciple to live up to the standard that Jesus Christ modeled for us.

Kevin Drury was gloriously saved in a Motel 6 second-story room in Yuma, AZ. Kevin was pursuing his lifelong dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player and was at spring training in the San Diego Padres AA camp. Jesus walked into his life in April of 1980 and began the ongoing process of spiritual transformation that continues to this day. Kevin is a passionate disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ who is passionate about discipling others to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He believes Christ is Heaven's model and every Christian's role model for life and ministry. Through the non-profit Revolution Movement, he leads people to follow Jesus and find His purpose for their lives. Kevin is the author of twelve books, including 'Welcome To The Wilderness,' 'Leaving The Land Of Your Limitations,' 'Christianity The Way Jesus Lived It,' 'Promises And Prayers For Our Posterity,' 'Sermon On The Mount,' 'Devotional For Disciples [Based on SOTM],' 'Who Is The Israel Of God,' 'Jesus And Jerusalem,' 'Impact Of Impartation,' 'My Church' and now 'It's Time To Act: Up.' Contact Kevin at gatesmasher@gmail.com for information about his books, ministry, or availability to minister to you or an event you are hosting.
It's Time To Act Up is Kevin Drury's twelfth book. Twelve represents God's perfect governmental foundation in His affairs in the earth. It also represents God's power and authority as He reveals His purposes for His people in the earth. It's Time To Act Up is the summarization of Kevin's first eleven books, bringing all the revelation found in them to its natural, or supernatural, conclusion. In It's Time To Act Up Kevin writes how for far too long God's new covenant people, His new creations who are created in Christ Jesus to do good works which He prepared in advance for us to walk in, have lived far below the standard Jesus lived, modeled, died, rose again, ascended into heaven, and poured the Holy Spirit out for. Today, too many believers live below their God given purpose. They act down! It is past time for ebb tide to turn to flood tide for all of the children born again by the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God. It is time for the tide of God's presence, purity, and power to turn for God's sons and daughters. It is time for us to stop living down and start living up to who we are in Christ Jesus, and in all He has called us to be and to do. IT IS TIME WE ACTED UP!

The Primitive Church

Have you ever heard the first church called the primitive church? I have on many occasions. The first few times I heard it I thought, That makes sense because it was so long ago.

The older I got in the Lord, I began questioning a lot of what I was being taught, and what I had been told was true. So now, each time I hear that phrase, I think, Oh the arrogance on display calling them that as if they were inferior to us modern church folk.

Now, before you go getting all worked up, I am aware some who use that phrase are implying they lived a long time ago. Still, there is a better term to describe the first church, like, the first church. Or, how about calling it the prototype church?

Today, too many believers live below their God given purpose. They act down! It is past time for ebb tide to turn to flood tide for all of the children born again by the Holy Spirit, for the glory of God.

It is time for the tide of God’s presence, purity, and power to turn for God’s sons and daughters. It is time for us to stop living down and start living up to who we are in Christ Jesus, and in all He has called us to be and to do.

Donna nor I call our children and grandchildren descendants, because we believe they are moving up in God, not moving down from God. Therefore, we call our posterity ascendants. Sometimes a change in identity requires a change in vocabulary.

We are doing our best to redefine what normal Christianity is. So, we use the term Biblical Christian and Biblical Christianity to delineate authentic Christians from Christians in name only. Some resist the redefining and that is fine, I guess. I guess as long as they are happy, they can be happy with their compromised condition.

Donna and I decided many years ago we would not live in the tight confines of cowardly mediocrity, being mesmerized by the masses who love their comfort more than the Comforter, and who dazzle with their deception all the while failing in their faithfulness.

Donna and I want to pass our history with God up, not down. We are getting much better at recognizing the direction people are going so we will invest in the ones who will bring a maximum return on our investment.

We have committed to never slowing down, backing down, or turning around. We have one speed and one direction. Everyone who wants to travel with us will have to travel at our speed because we are not slowing down, backing down, or turning around.

Jesus said this in Luke 9:62, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” The actual interpretation implies not being fit for service in God’s kingdom.1 Have you ever seen a farmer plow a field by looking behind him more than in front of him?

Donna and I want our ceiling to be the floor of those who come behind us. That means they will have to climb a lot of stairs to reach our ceiling because we continue to ascend in the Lord.

Today, in community, contemporary, modern, post-modern, relevant, seeker, or superficial church cultures words are used to describe the first century church that can be demoting and demeaning.

Community, contemporary, modern, post-modern, relevant, seeker, or superficial are terms used by people who may be those things by today’s standards, but today’s standards are not the standards God uses to assay our lives and lifestyles.

God is judging His people by His standard, and His standard is named Jesus, the Christ. Jesus is the most contemporary Person who ever lived. He is the One who is, was, and is to come.2

In Acts chapter two, Peter pulls part of Joel’s prophecy3 into his sermon on the day of Pentecost. In regard to what was happening that morning in Jerusalem, Peter said, “This is that!”4 He seized on Joel’s prophetic vision and vocabulary. Peter’s language describing the events looked different than Joel’s.

When an Old Testament verse, or text, is used in the New Testament, the way it is used in the New is the way it was meant in the Old all along. The Old contains the New and the New explains the Old.

One of the signs that Joel’s prophecy was being fulfilled was spiritual drunkenness. Peter said, “These men are not drunk as you suppose.”5 They were drunk, just not from a natural substance.

The impact of that outpouring was staggering!

I want to be so intoxicated with the glory and presence of God that it permanently changes my walk with Him. It is possible to stagger in the natural and walk straight in the Spirit. We are told, in the Bible, to walk in the Spirit.6 To the natural eye or to the untrained mind that is not renewed, it looks like we are staggering. To those operating in a religious mindset it looks like we are staggering. Those people are not walking right. Yes they are, just not by your standard.

I am so glad God delivered me from man’s standard!

The fear of man brings a snare [noose],7 and that is a nuisance.

Another sign Joel’s prophecy was being fulfilled was the manifestation of the miraculous. There was a mighty sound from heaven that created a heavenly language on earth.

There was one message being declared, it was called the mighty deeds of God.8 One message was spoken but those who heard it heard it in different languages.9 I have been asked several times through the years how to preach a message, or write a book, that reaches the different spiritual and maturity levels of the people hearing the message or reading the book. I have told those who asked, You don’t! You teach, or write, what you have received from God and trust God to reach each person with what they need to hear, or see.

Peter said in 1 Peter 2:2, “And like newborn babies, long for the pure [sincere] milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.”

But Paul wrote this in Hebrews 5, “12 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the actual words of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. 13 For everyone who partakes only of milk is unacquainted with the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to distinguish between good and evil.”

Since the beginning of my ministry, which dates back to the early 1980’s, I have believed I was to preach, teach, and write to where I wanted people to go, not where they presently were. The preached or written word is like a laser beam that directs people to their destination, not their origination.

Every Christian has the Holy Spirit. He is the Spirit of truth who leads God’s sons and daughters into all of the truth,10 which is God’s written word and the Person, life, and ministry of Jesus.

I prepare the food people need to grow and I trust the Spirit to break it down into milk if someone needs milk. If I teach or write at the milk level then those who need meat will be malnourished.

On that day of Pentecost there was mass confusion. Well that can’t be God, because He is not the author of confusion.11 God wasn’t confused that day, the people were. What God did that day was not confusing. The people did not understand what God was doing so they were confused. When what God is doing is misunderstood people typically misrepresent what God is doing.

On that day of Pentecost there was mass conviction and there were mass confessions of faith, all because of the staggering outpouring that occurred.

The disciples and people were all in one place in one accord,12 but they were not prepared for what God did. No one can fully prepare for what God wants to do. But if you are not preparing for what God wants to do, you will not be prepared when He does it.

True moves of God usually have all of the above mentioned manifestations, and more.

Acts 2

“41 So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls. 42 They were continually devoting [NKJB says continued steadfastly] themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

43 Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. 44 And all the believers were together and had all things in common; 45 and they would sell their property and possessions and share them with all, to the extent that anyone had need. 46 Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.”

Peter preached a three minute sermon and three thousand people got saved. Luke described what many today call the primitive church.

That day of Pentecost began with an explosion out of heaven and it continued with the...
