He is a leading scholar on name, image, and likeness law, having published seminal law review articles with Harvard University, Stanford University, the University of Miami, Washington & Lee University, and the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport. He has a J.D. from the Yale Law School, an M.A. from Oxford University, England (Marshall Scholar), and a B.A. from Yale College.
