Christiane de Vos examines the self-conception and the image of God conveyed by the person praying in the individual complaint psalms, the largest group of texts in the biblical Psalms.
Christiane de Vos untersucht das Selbstverständnis und Gottesbild des Beters in den individuellen Klagepsalmen, der größten Textgruppe im biblischen Buch der Psalmen. Es zeigt sich, dass der in Not geratene Mensch nur noch zu klagen vermag. Dies tut er vor und gegen Gott, von dessen gnädiger Zuwendung sein Leben abhängt. Er vertraut Gott ganz und gar, und darum ist selbst sein Klagen ein Lob Gottes, wenn auch aus der Tiefe. Nicht demütig, sondern an- und einklagend hält der Beter an seiner Beziehung zu Gott fest. Um paradigmatisch das Spektrum der Klage zu erfassen, analysiert die Autorin zunächst drei sehr unterschiedliche Individualklagen kursorisch (Ps 38, 56, 88) und verortet anschließend die gesamte Textgruppe sprachlich und theologisch. In order to understand the scope of the lament from a paradigmatic perspective, she begins with a cursory analysis of three very different individual complaint psalms (Ps 38, 56, 88). She then studies the linguistic phraseology and the theological ideas in the entire group of texts in order provide a systematic description of the essential theological features of the relationship between God and human being are to be found in the individual complaints.
