Die hier gesammelten deutschen und englischen Aufsätze spiegeln die zwei Schwerpunkte der Theologie wider, denen sich François Bovon seit Jahren widmet: die Erforschung des Neuen Testaments (insbesondere Lukasevangelium und Apostelgeschichte) und der Alten Kirche sowie der Apokryphen und der Beziehung zwischen beiden. Einige der Artikel wurden eigens für diesen Band aus dem Französischen ins Englische übersetzt. This collection of essays reflects the two poles of interest on which Francois Bovon has concentrated during the last years: the New Testament (especially the Gospel of Luke and the Book of Acts) as well as the ancient church and the Christian Apocrypha. Eight articles in this volume deal with Luke and Acts, and their coverage of this subject ranges from a research report to detailed studies such as an analysis of Luke's practice of quotation. Nine of the essays focus on early Christian Apocrypha and the ancient church; five essays deal with theological topics at the crossroads between the New Testament and the Apocrypha. The essays are written in German and English or have been translated from French into English for this collection.

Born 1938; 1967-93 Professor at the Divinity School at the University of Geneva; since 1993 Professor of New Testament and early Christian literature at Harvard Divinity School; in 2000 President of the International Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas; currently the Frothingham Professor of the History of Religion Emeritus at Harvard Divinity School.
