Welche Rolle spielte das Völkerrecht für die britische Reaktion auf die schrittweise Etablierung der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur und die bereits 1933 einsetzende Judenverfolgung? 1933 and 1934 were critical years for the reaction of Great Britain to Hitler's seizure of power. In this work, the author demonstrates how the most influential European power and guarantor of the Treaties of Versailles and Locarno replied to the Nazi threat in the heart of Europe. What role did international law play in the response to the swift abolition of democracy and the persecution of Germany's Jews? This study provides fascinating insights into how the international community reacted to Germany's discrimination of Jews in the early years of the Third Reich. Philipp Mohr analyzes a wide array of unpublished documents from the British cabinet, the Foreign Office, the German Auswärtiges Amt, and private papers as well as the discussions held by the British parliament and the opinions of the British press in order to ascertain the British state of mind regarding the emerging Nazi dictatorship. The author also describes the discussions of the Council of the League of Nations in regard to the discrimination of the Jews in Germany.
