Jour Fixe Selected Lectures Volume I traces the student run lecture series and initiative at AdBK Munich, which has been running since 2007, with a focus on the years 2022-2025. It includes transcripts of talks, notes and image material around the talks and guests.
“To this day Jour Fixe has existed for eighteen years. We assume it to have been executed with a similar ambition of confronting the embeddedness of both very complex and obvious existences. In the case of our lecture series, we encountered it with pragmatic intimacy whilst the former lectures extend into something like a mythological being. The point of Jour Fixe, as an independently organised student lecture series had been to invite local and international figures of interest from within a broadly professional artistic context to offer a public lecture for an evening, and hold studio visits the following day together with a group of interested students, hosted by the Academy of Fine Arts, in Munich. The lectures themselves are an hour long followed by a meal together. We invited everyone to eat fried potatoes and matjes with us at the exact same location afterwards. Mostly it was a dinner with a humble few scrunched over and around our invited guest(s).” Jour Fixe Selected Lectures Volume I dokumentiert die seit 2007 an der AdBK München etablierte studentische Vortragsreihe "Jour Fixe" mit besonderem Fokus auf die Jahre 2022–2025. Neben Transkripten der Vorträge enthält der Band Notizen und visuelles Material, das die Begegnungen mit den internationalen Künstler:innen und Gästen dokumentiert.
