स्वादिष्ठया मदि॑ष्ठया पव॑स्व सोम॒ धार॑या।
इन्द्राय पातवे सुतः ॥१॥
Flow forth, O Soma, pure and bright,
With sweetest taste and boundless might.
For Indra’s joy, for sacred cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [1]
रक्षो॒हा विश्वच॑र्षणिर॒भि योनि॒मयो॑हतम्!
द्रुणा सधस्थमासदत् ॥२॥
Destroyer fierce of demons dark,
Your sacred path ignites a spark.
Through fearless might and endless cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [2]
वरिवोधातमो भव मंहिष्ठो वृत्रहन्तमः।
पर्षि राधो मघोनाम् ॥३॥
Grant paths of wealth, O Soma bright,
Vritra’s bane, in noble fight.
Through sacred hands and fearless cheer,
May wisdom reign both bright and clear. [3]
अभ्यर्ष महानां देवानां वीतिमन्धसा।
अभि वाजमुत श्रवः ॥४॥
Rise forth, O Soma, vast in fame,
Among the gods you earn your name.
Through fearless charge and endless cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [4]
त्वामच्छा चरामसि तदिदर्थं दिवेदिवे।
इन्दो त्वे न आशसः ॥५॥
To you we turn in sacred rite,
O Soma pure, our soul’s delight.
Through noble rule and fearless cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [5]
पुनाति ते परिस्रुतं सोमं सूर्यस्य दुहिता।
वारेण शश्वता तना ॥६॥
The daughter of the sun so bright,
Purifies Soma in sacred light.
Through noble hands and endless cheer,
May wisdom shine both far and near. [6]
तमीमण्वीः समर्य आ गृभ्णन्ति योषणो दश।
स्वसारः पार्ये दिवि ॥७॥
Ten sisters take him, firm and wise,
Within the heavens where Soma lies.
Through sacred force and fearless cheer,
May fortune reign both bright and clear. [7]
तमीं हिन्वन्त्यग्रुवो धमन्ति बाकुरं दृतिम्।
त्रिधातु वारणं मधु ॥८॥
The rush of winds, the churn of waves,
Bring forth the nectar Soma saves.
Through endless might and sacred cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [8]
अभीममघ्न्या उत श्रीणन्ति धेनवः शिशुम्।
सोममिन्द्राय पातवे ॥९॥
The cows pour forth the newborn sweet,
For Indra’s drink, for Soma’s seat.
Through fearless charge and endless cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [9]
अस्येदिन्द्रो मदेष्वा विश्वा वृत्राणि जिघ्नते।
शूरो मघा च मंहते ॥१०॥
Through Soma’s power, fierce and grand,
Indra shatters foes at hand.
Through noble rule and fearless cheer,
May wisdom reign both bright and clear. [10]
Sukta 2
पवस्व देववीरति पवित्रं सोम रंह्या।
इन्द्रमिन्दो वृषा विश ॥१॥
Flow forth, O Soma, pure and bright,
With sacred strength, with boundless might.
To Indra’s heart, to warriors bold,
May wisdom reign, may hymns be told. [1]
आ वच्यस्व महि प्सरो वृषेन्दो द्युम्नवत्तमः।
आ योनिं धर्णसिः सदः ॥२॥
O Soma, speak in mighty tones,
With radiance bright where valor roams.
Descend upon the sacred seat,
In offerings pure, in chants so sweet. [2]
अधुक्षत प्रियं मधु धारा सुतस्य वेधसः।
अपो वसिष्ट सुक्रतुः ॥३॥
The streams of nectar sweetly flow,
From sacred rites where blessings grow.
Let waters pure enrich the land,
By wisdom’s gift, by fate’s command. [3]
महान्तं त्वा महीरन्वापो अर्षन्ति सिन्धवः।
यद्गोभिर्वासयिष्यसे ॥४॥
O Soma vast, the rivers rise,
To bathe you deep beneath the skies.
With wealth of kine, with endless cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [4]
समुद्रो अप्सु मामृजे विष्टम्भो धरुणो दिवः।
सोमः पवित्रे अस्मयुः ॥५॥
The ocean swirls, the waters call,
As heaven’s vault sustains them all.
O Soma pure, in sacred flow,
Your wisdom vast, your strength we know. [5]
अचिक्रदद्वृषा हरिर्महान्मित्रो न दर्शतः।
सं सूर्येण रोचते ॥६॥
He roars aloud, the mighty one,
Like Mitra bright beneath the sun.
Through sacred light and endless cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [6]
गिरस्त इन्द ओजसा मर्मृज्यन्ते अपस्युवः।
याभिर्मदाय शुम्भसे ॥७॥
O Soma, chants rise high and vast,
With strength that none can overcast.
Through fearless might and sacred cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [7]
तं त्वा मदाय घृष्वय उ लोककृत्नुमीमहे।
तव प्रशस्तयो महीः ॥८॥
For joy we seek you, Soma bright,
Creator vast, with endless might.
Through noble hands and fearless cheer,
May wisdom reign both bright and clear. [8]
अस्मभ्यमिन्दविन्द्रयुर्मध्वः पवस्व धारया।
पर्जन्यो वृष्टिमाँ इव ॥९॥
O Soma, flow in sweetest streams,
Like rain that soothes, like mighty beams.
Through fearless charge and sacred cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [9]
गोषा इन्दो नृषा अस्यश्वसा वाजसा उत।
आत्मा यज्ञस्य पूर्व्यः ॥१०॥
O Soma, lord of wealth and cheer,
With steeds of strength, with boundless fear.
Through sacred hands and noble cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [10]

एष देवो अमर्त्यः पर्णवीरिव दीयति।
अभि द्रोणान्यासदम् ॥१॥
This god immortal speeds along,
Like fluttering leaves, fierce and strong.
He reaches forth in endless flight,
Through sacred halls of boundless light. [1]
एष देवो विपा कृतोऽति ह्वरांसि धावति।
पवमानो अदाभ्यः ॥२॥
O Soma pure, unchallenged bright,
Through lands unknown you take your flight.
With sacred speed and endless cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [2]
एष देवो विपन्युभिः पवमान ऋतायुभिः।
हरिर्वाजाय मृज्यते ॥३॥
Among the wise, among the bold,
O Soma flows in waves untold.
Through fearless might and endless cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [3]
एष विश्वानि वार्या शूरो यन्निव सत्वभिः।
पवमानः सिषासति ॥४॥
O Soma vast, with warrior’s might,
You guard the world in sacred light.
Through noble hands and endless cheer,
May wisdom shine both bright and clear. [4]
एष देवो रथर्यति पवमानो दशस्यति।
आविष्कृणोति वग्वनुम् ॥५॥
Like chariot bold, O Soma moves,
His force expands, his might improves.
Through fearless charge and sacred cheer,
May fortune shine both bright and clear. [5]
एष विप्रैरभिष्टुतोऽपो देवो वि गाहते।
दधद्रत्नानि दाशुषे ॥६॥
By sages praised, O Soma grand,
You bless the world with wealth at hand.
Through noble rule and fearless cheer,
May wisdom reign both bright and clear. [6]
एष दिवं वि धावति तिरो रजांसि धारया।
