पिप्रीहि देवाँ उशतो यविष्ठ विद्वाँ ऋतूँरृतुपते यजेह ।

ये दैव्या ऋत्विजस्तेभिरग्ने त्वं होतॄणामस्यायजिष्ठः ॥१॥

O Agni, rise in boundless might,

Dispel the dark, bring sacred light.

Let dawn reveal the hidden way,

Where truth and wisdom brightly stay. [1]

वेषि होत्रमुत पोत्रं जनानां मन्धातासि द्रविणोदा ऋतावा ।

स्वाहा वयं कृणवामा हवींषि देवो देवान्यजत्वग्निरर्हन् ॥२॥

Guide the gods in holy fire,

With wisdom vast, their rites inspire.

Let hearts unite in sacred flame,

Calling forth each divine name. [2]

आ देवानामपि पन्थामगन्म यच्छक्नवाम तदनु प्रवोळ्हुम् ।

अग्निर्विद्वान्स यजात्सेदु होता सो अध्वरान्स ऋतून्कल्पयाति ॥३॥

We tread the path, with faith so true,

Through sacred flames that light our view.

On fire-lit roads our prayers ascend,

Where mortal souls and gods transcend. [3]

यद्वो वयं प्रमिनाम व्रतानि विदुषां देवा अविदुष्टरासः ।

अग्निष्टद्विश्वमा पृणाति विद्वान्येभिर्देवाँ ऋतुभिः कल्पयाति ॥४॥

If vows are lost, if steps go stray,

Agni restores the rightful way.

His wisdom lifts the erring soul,

To guide them back to truth’s control. [4]

यत्पाकत्रा मनसा दीनदक्षा न यज्ञस्य मन्वते मर्त्यासः ।

अग्निष्टद्धोता क्रतुविद्विजानन्यजिष्ठो देवाँ ऋतुशो यजाति ॥५॥

The weak may falter, the minds may wane,

But Agni lifts them once again.

With strength untamed, his flames embrace,

Kindling hope with warming grace. [5]

विश्वेषां ह्यध्वराणामनीकं चित्रं केतुं जनिता त्वा जजान ।

स आ यजस्व नृवतीरनु क्षा स्पार्हा इषः क्षुमतीर्विश्वजन्याः ॥६॥

In every rite, in every prayer,

Agni’s blessings fill the air.

Where offerings rise, his sparks ignite,

Bringing fortune, wisdom bright. [6]

यं त्वा द्यावापृथिवी यं त्वापस्त्वष्टा यं त्वा सुजनिमा जजान ।

पन्थामनु प्रविद्वान्पितृयाणं द्युमदग्ने समिधानो वि भाहि ॥७॥

By sky and earth, by waters bright,

O Agni, blaze with endless light!

Shine forth in dawn, in sacred calls,

Where echoes reach celestial halls. [7]

Sukta 2

पिप्रीहि देवाँ उशतो यविष्ठ विद्वाँ ऋतूँरृतुपते यजेह ।

ये दैव्या ऋत्विजस्तेभिरग्ने त्वं होतॄणामस्यायजिष्ठः ॥१॥

O Agni, youngest, ever wise,

Uplift the gods where prayers arise.

With holy priests at every gate,

Preside o'er rites and seasons’ fate. [1]

वेषि होत्रमुत पोत्रं जनानां मन्धातासि द्रविणोदा ऋतावा ।

स्वाहा वयं कृणवामा हवींषि देवो देवान्यजत्वग्निरर्हन् ॥२॥

As Hotr and Potr you art known,

Bestower where the seeds are sown.

Through “Svaha” let our gifts ascend,

Let gods by Agni’s call attend. [2]

आ देवानामपि पन्थामगन्म यच्छक्नवाम तदनु प्रवोळ्हुम् ।

अग्निर्विद्वान्स यजात्सेदु होता सो अध्वरान्स ऋतून्कल्पयाति ॥३॥

The gods’ own path we dared to tread,

By strength and faith we onward sped.

Agni, who knows the sacred tide,

Aligns the rites with seasons’ stride. [3]

यद्वो वयं प्रमिनाम व्रतानि विदुषां देवा अविदुष्टरासः ।

अग्निष्टद्विश्वमा पृणाति विद्वान्येभिर्देवाँ ऋतुभिः कल्पयाति ॥४॥

If we have failed in vow or deed,

And strayed where wiser paths should lead—

Then Agni, sage of boundless flame,

Restores the gods and sets the frame. [4]

यत्पाकत्रा मनसा दीनदक्षा न यज्ञस्य मन्वते मर्त्यासः ।

अग्निष्टद्धोता क्रतुविद्विजानन्यजिष्ठो देवाँ ऋतुशो यजाति ॥५॥

When mortal hearts are weak and low,

Unmindful of the fires that glow—

Agni, the knower of each rite,

Leads souls again to sacred light. [5]

विश्वेषां ह्यध्वराणामनीकं चित्रं केतुं जनिता त्वा जजान ।

स आ यजस्व नृवतीरनु क्षा स्पार्हा इषः क्षुमतीर्विश्वजन्याः ॥६॥

The banner bright in every rite,

Agni was born to blaze with might.

So bless our lands with wealth untold,

And all creation’s gifts unfold. [6]

यं त्वा द्यावापृथिवी यं त्वापस्त्वष्टा यं त्वा सुजनिमा जजान ।

पन्थामनु प्रविद्वान्पितृयाणं द्युमदग्ने समिधानो वि भाहि ॥७॥

By Earth and Sky, by Waters raised,

By artisan’s intent you're praised.

O Agni, light the path we seek,

With dawn-like fire, pure and meek. [7]

Sukta 3

इनो राजन्नरतिः समिद्धो रौद्रो दक्षाय सुषुमाँ अदर्शि ।

चिकिद्वि भाति भासा बृहतासिक्नीमेति रुशतीमपाजन् ॥१॥

O radiant king, the flame arises,

With roaring force it blazes, surprises.

To Daksha’s might it shines revealed,

A gleaming path through darkness sealed. [1]

कृष्णां यदेनीमभि वर्पसा भूज्जनयन्योषां बृहतः पितुर्जाम् ।

ऊर्ध्वं भानुं सूर्यस्य स्तभायन्दिवो वसुभिररतिर्वि भाति ॥२॥

When blackened veil is swept in flame,

He weds the sky in glory’s name.

The sun held high, its light released,

He blazes forth with heavenly feast. [2]
