Later, the medieval town has evidence for houses, a brewery, monastic buildings, cemeteries, and the burial of King Richard III.

Dr Gavin Speed is a British archaeologist with over twenty-five years’ experience, having dug, directed, and managed a range of archaeological projects both in the UK and abroad, with a particular expertise in the urban archaeology of Leicester and the transition from Late Roman Britain to early Anglo-Saxon England. Gavin has produced several books and articles and also promotes archaeology to the general public with regular talks to local groups and schools.
