The Africa Bible Commentary is the first one-volume commentary of its kind, now in a thoroughly revised second edition. Written by African theologians, it was created to help pastors, students, and lay leaders in Africa apply God’s Word to distinctively African concerns, yet its fresh insights will have a universal appeal.
The first edition of Africa Bible Commentary was a ground-breaking publishing event--the first one-volume Bible commentary produced in Africa by African theologians to meet the needs of African pastors, students, and lay leaders. Interpreting and applying the Bible in the light of African cultures and realities today.
Now, this revised and updated second edition, almost twenty years after the release of the first, continues to bring powerful and relevant insights into the biblical text. Bringing together over 100 gifted scholars from across the continent, and interacting with recent scholarship and issues that face African Christians today, this new edition raises the benchmark set by its predecessor all those years ago.
Ideal for students of the Bible and preachers both in Africa and around the world, this updated edition has over 40% new and extensively revised commentaries across the Old and New Testament. Deepening the contextual relevance of the commentary, this second edition boasts seventy-five new articles, resulting in 122 articles that provide insight into the most pertinent issues facing the church in Africa today.
Key features:
Produced by African biblical scholars, in Africa, for Africa--and for the world
Section-by-section interpretive commentary and application
More than 70 special articles dealing with topics of key importance for ministry in Africa today, but that have global implications
70 African contributors from both English- and French-speaking countries
Transcends the African context with insights into the biblical text and the Christian faith for readers worldwide
