On the night of 14–15 April 1912 RMS Titanic sank with the loss of around 1,500 people after hitting an iceberg. Richard M. Jones is a historian specialising in the local history of places in Yorkshire, particularly on the coast, maritime and military topics including shipwrecks and other disasters, the First and Second World Wars, and railways. He has published numerous books on these subjects and appeared on numerous radio and tv programmes as well as podcasts and blogs.
