Beatrice Hale is an independent researcher based in New Zealand. She has tutored in social anthropology, and taught social work courses at Otago Polytechnic. A retired hospital social worker with the elderly, she maintains contacts through different associations in the fields of anthropology and in gerontological social work. Beatrice has published a number of books in these areas including The Age of Supported Independence: Voices of In-Home Care (Springer, 2010) and Family Care and Social Capital: Transitions in Informal Care (Springer, 2014). Beatrice is a member of ANZASW (social work association), the NZ Gerontological Association, the Federation of Graduate Women, New Zealand Society of Authors, the Federation of Writers (Scotland) and Carers New Zealand.
