Brian Johnson has been a Baptist pastor for thirty-five years. Double Shoals Baptist is his first and current church, serving there for over twenty-four years. He claims to be Baptist, but he isn't too good at it. He and his wife Susan, a retired schoolteacher and librarian, have been married for forty-two years and live in North Carolina. Their daughter, Samantha Hope, is a writer currently working on her second novel. A key element of Dr. Johnson's ministry has been telling stories and writing reflective articles that blend everyday living with practical theology. Not one to sit in a church office, he prepares sermons, Bible studies, and articles at his favorite coffee shop, which he calls his 'office south.' He is an avid pickleball player and has been a local leader helping to grow the sport in the area. He loves history, storytelling, good movies, audiobooks, and the Tennessee Vols. While he appreciates all kinds of stories, the gospel stories of Jesus have had the greatest impact on his life. Along with his wife and daughter, his two Shih Tzus, Bear and Lucy, lay claim to his heart. Brian studied Psychology at King University in Bristol, VA. He received a Master of Divinity and Doctorate in Ministry from Gardner Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC.
