Douglas H. Johnson is an independent scholar specializing in the history of Sudan, South Sudan, and Northeast Africa. He is the author, editor, and co-editor of fourteen books, including Nuer Prophets (1994), The Root Causes of Sudan’s Civil Wars (3 editions 2003-2016), and South Sudan: A New History for a New Nation (2016). Kuyok Abol Kuyok is the Undersecretary of the Ministry of General Education and Instruction and an Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Education, the University of Juba. He is the author of South Sudan: the Notable Firsts (2015), a biographical dictionary of South Sudan, and the editor of Peter Nyot Kok: A Tribute (2022). Nicki Kindersley is an historian and lecturer at Cardiff University, Wales and the author of New Sudans: Wartime Intellectual Histories in Khartoum (2024).
