Fighting the clock and the elements, Arnie and Lucy took on the Rockies, the Alps, the Himalayas and the Andes, never knowing what was in store for them, but found their love and trust growing. On New Year's Eve, 1994, the couple arrived back at Summit County, Colorado, in triumph. Amidst the celebrations they talked of marriage and the children they would share. Then, on a clear, sunny day in the Alps, tragedy struck. In a treacherous couloir, above La Grave, Lucy slipped. She slid hundreds of feet on the pitiless ice to die with Arnie's arms wrapped around her. This is a story of love and magic, of a couple who made the world theirs and then, in one calamitous moment, lost it all.
