Der Tagungsband enthält ein Vorwort, einen Prolog, eine Einleitung und 21 Beiträge, die in drei Kapiteln zu „Repräsentation von Macht im archaischen Makedonien“ [6 Beiträge], „Landschaften der Macht: Siedlung und Gräberfelder“ [11] und „Symbole von Macht und Prestige“ [4] gegliedert sind. Im Einzelnen handelt es sich um Beiträge zu den Themen Raum als eine Ressource in Friedhöfen, Bestattungsritual und kommunale Identität, Totenmasken, Kriegertum als Mechanismus zur Bindung von Gemeinschaften, Machtstrukturen und Todesrituale sowie Symbolik und Funktion reicher Grabbeigaben. Weitere Themen sind der Lovas-Hort der MBZ, die Nekropole der SBZ bei Baley, die Abwesenheit von Macht, Ungleichheit und Macht in SBZ und EZ im Vardar-Tal, die Grabhügel von Himara und Atenica, die Besiedlung der EZ am Thermaischen Golf und auf der Chalkidiki, die befestigte Siedlung des 13.-11. Jh. von Bresto, Siedlungsmuster in Albanien, Tells und Pfahlbauten der BZ in den Regionen Pelagonien, Ohrid und Prespa, die Siedlung von Svinjarička Čuka, Darstellung von Schmuck und Kleidung auf anthropomorphen Figurinen des 3. Jt., Bernstein in Bestattungskontexten der BZ in W-Serbien, Armringe/Beinringe vom Typ Juhor und Machtstrukturen, die sich in Grabbeigaben der EZ widerspiegeln.
These conference proceedings contain a preface, a prologue, an introduction and 21 papers arranged in three chapters on “Representations of power in Archaic Macedonia” [6 papers], “Landscapes of power: Settlement and cemeteries” 11] and “Symbols of power and prestige” [4]. In detail, there are contributions on space as a resource in cemeteries, funerary ritual and communal identity, funerary masks, warriorhood as a mechanism for binding communities, power structures and death rituals as well as symbolism and function of rich grave goods. Other topics are the MBA Lovas hoard, the LBA Baley necropolis, the absence of power, inequality and power in the LBA and IA Vardar valley, tumuli at Himara and Atenica, IA settlement at the Thermaic Gulf and on the Chalkidiki peninsula, the 13th-11th century fortified settlement of Bresto, settlement patterns in Albania, BA tells and pile-dwellings in the Pelagonia, Ohrid and Prespa regions, the settlement at Svinjarička Čuka, representation of jewellery and clothing on 3rd mill. anthropomorphic figurines, amber in BA funerary contexts in W-Serbia, bracelets/anklets of Type Juhor, and power structures reflected in IA burial equipment.
