This ground-breaking text features information outlining the competency-based model for psychopathology, including cases illustrating the model in action. It also presents strategies for building on clients' strengths and resilience and offers insights to social workers regarding their role in working with the mentally ill. As the text takes an ecological perspective approach, it captures a holistic perspective on the factors that impact behavior. The text also features appropriate treatment techniques that reflect social work values and ethics.
