In the late 1960s, Ram Dass helped shaped the awakening consciousness of an entire generation with his bestseller, Be Here Now. Ram Dass or Richard Alpert as he was named by his family received his PhD in Psychology from Stanford where he lectured from 1958 to 1963. He researched human consciousness for many years and first travelled to India in 1967 where he met his teacher Neem Karoli Baba.After spending the next two years with his guru in India, Ram Dass lectured throughout the world, dedicating himself to the service of others.
