An amazing story of survival and growth, after a life spent in some of Ireland’s most notorious institutions. Mary Forde O'Neill was born in Tuam Mother and Baby Home and spent time in an Industrial Reformatory School, a Magdalene Laundry and even St Brigid’s Mental Asylum. A powerful lesson in what Ireland has done to its own for far too long.
 ‘What do you remember?’

‘Oh … I remember everything.’

In her early life, Mary Forde O’Neill withstood the brutalities of Ireland’s most notorious institutions. Born in Tuam’s mother and baby home, she was boarded out to abusive foster parents, sent to an industrial school, a Magdalene laundry, and – after an attempted escape – interned in St Brigid’s psychiatric hospital.

Once free, in a world without walls, Mary relished her independence, but the shadow of her past lingered. As she battled for answers and searched in vain for peace, she decided she could no longer be silent. With the guidance of writer and filmmaker Ryan Weldon, Mary recounts a powerful story of survival against the Church and state that forged her life, and the lives of so many other survivors.

Unapologetic and unflinching – bold in every sense – through Mary’s mirror, a true reflection is offered.
