Die islamische religiöse Tradition hat stets in besonderer Art und Weise auf die historische Verankerung der koranischen Offenbarung verwiesen, auch dann, wenn es um deren Relevanz für juristische Entscheidungen ging: Einerseits musste man die Erinnerung an die geschichtlichen Bedingungen des Offenbarungsereignisses wachhalten, da sie für die Interpretation des Korans unersetzlich waren. Dies durfte andererseits aber nicht so weit gehen, dass die zukünftige Bedeutung des Textes im Grundsatz fraglich würde. Verschiedene Facetten der Auseinandersetzung über diese Problematik lassen sich rekonstruieren und werfen neues Licht auf die Spezifika des islamischen Rechtsdiskurses.
The religious tradition of Islam has always maintained a very specific approach to the Quranic revelation as a text ancored in history. It did so even when dealing with the text’s relevance for juristic decisions: On the one hand, memories of the historical setting of the revelatory events had to be kept alive, as they were indispensable for the interpretation of the Quran. On the other hand, this must never imply that the future importance of the document were called into question in more general terms. It is possible to reconstruct various facets of the controversies about this issue, which shed new light on the char-
acteristics of Islamic legal discourse.
