The volume contains a report on the progress of the society for the period between January and December 2018, a list of members, and ten papers. The contributions deal with the collector Johan Adrian Jacobsen of the Royal Museum of Ethnology [Bolz], human skeletal remains from Riņņukalns in Northern Latvia in the Rudolf Virchow Collection and a 19th century research debate in what was then Livonia [Brinker et al.], 45 years of research in Sierra Tarahumara, Northern Mexico [Deimel], pottery and transculturalism of the Formative Period in the high valley of Cochabamba, Bolivia [Gabelmann], Hans Findeisen’s correspondence with the Museum of Ethnology Hamburg and the reconstruction of his precarious academic career [Habeck / Dudeck], a shoe-shaped vessel fragment from Corneşti-Iarcuri, Romania [Heeb et al.], minorities discriminated against in the North of Japan such as the Ainu [Ölschleger], the causality between body height and social status in humans [Scheffler et al.], anthropological evidence of a crouched burial in the Late Bronze Age settlement at Wustermark / Havel [Teßmann], and the Bronze and Iron Age settlement site “Fpl. 10" at the same place [Beilke-Voigt].
