These are the results of a workshop held at Trinity College Dublin in collaboration with the "Broken Narratives" project (Univ. of Vienna), exploring the interaction between narrative and conflict. It tries to develop a narrative theory of culture, revolving around the term of 'rupture', before presenting case studies from various fields in literature and culture, from Habsburg Austria to the wars and genocides of the 20th century up to 9/11.
