Simon Lavington graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1962. He obtained his PhD in Computer Science at Manchester University, where he worked on high-performance computer design. He became a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Essex in 1986 and retired in 2002. He has written many books including "Early British Computers".
