A fighter pilot who flew 75 combat missions in World War I, George C. Kenney was a charismatic leader who established himself as an innovative advocate of air power. Thomas E. Griffith Jr, is a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force who flew in the initial air strikes of the Gulf War and has a Ph.D. in history from the University of North Carolina.
