“Extremism tends to flourish in times of crisis,” writes Jules Archer. It comes in all shapes and sizes and attaches itself to various causes. You can find extremism at the beginning with the founding fathers, extremists in the eyes of the British government and you can most definitely find it today. Jules Archer chronicles a history of extremists such as:

Puritans,
Suffragettes,
The Klu Klux Klan,
and Prohibitionists.
With vintage cartoons and prints to further explain the subject, Jules Archer reports the fascinating history of protests in America.

Jules Archer was one of the most respected names in nonfiction for young people. During his lifetime he published over seventy books, which have been translated into twelve languages throughout the world. He lived in Scotts Valley California until his death in 2008. Brianna Dumont is a self-proclaimed history buff with a degree in art history and archaeology as well as classics. She has traveled extensively in search of great museums and historical sites to visit. When she is home, she is an independent historian and full-time writer who is quickly becoming best friends with her local librarian. She lives in Chicago, Illinois.
