Modern philosophy has developed widely divergent understandings of "the event". Naturalistic and anti-naturalistic perspectives stand in opposition to one another, mostly along the analytic–continental divide. Harnessing a critique of the event that is founded in Kant, this study argues that there is compatibility between seemingly irreconcilable concepts, and proposes a realistic interpretation of epistemic, ethical, and aesthetic events. Was ein Ereignis ist, wird im Denken der Moderne so zentral wie konträr entwickelt. Naturalistische und antinaturalistische Auffassungen stehen sich, meist entlang des „continental divide“, antinomisch gegenüber. Mit einer an Kant gewonnen Ereigniskritik argumentiert die Studie für die Kompatibilität der scheinbar unverträglichen Konzepte und schlägt eine realistische Deutung epistemischer, ethischer und ästhetischer Ereignisse vor.
