original Filmaufnahmen - die er in mehreren DVD-Dokumentationen veröffentlicht hat
- auch eine Fülle an Fotos und Dokumenten recherchiert, die hier erstmals veröffentlicht werden. Noch nie zuvor hat ein Autor zudem die Perspektive der damaligen Wehrmachtssoldaten beleuchtet, die den Befehl hatten, Köln „bis zur letzten Patrone“ zu
verteidigen. In dieser Filmdokumentation kommen zahlreiche Zeitzeugen zu Wort, die
die Ereignisse bei der Einnahme der linksrheinischen Stadtim März 1945 miterlebt haben: ehemalige US Soldaten und Wehrmachtsangehörige, Fotografen, Kriegsreporter
und Zivilisten, von denen in der linksrheinischen Stadt bei Kriegsende kaum mehr als
40.000 in den Trümmern lebten. Zudem schildert Rheindorf mit einmaligen Dokumenten
und Zeitzeugenberichten die Situation als Köln im März und April 1945 eine geteilte
Stadt war, bis am 16. April auch die rechte Rheinseite von der US-Armee besetzt wurde.
